- 1). Cast on 50 stitches, leaving a 5 inch tail. Place the stitch marker; this marks the beginning of the round.
- 2). Join the yarn. This is done by knitting the first stitch on the left needle, using the working yarn in your right hand. Be careful not to twist your stitches.
- 3). Work in knit 2, purl 2 rib for approximately an inch, making sure to stop at the end of the round.
- 4). Change to stockinette stitch, which is knitting every stitch when working in the round, until the piece is about an inch short of your desired length.
- 5). Complete the cowl by knitting in knit 2, purl 2 rib for approximately an inch.
- 6). Cut yarn and weave in ends using the darning needle.
