- 1). Search for beach glass near the mouth of rivers. This is where debris, such as broken glass, begins its journey to the ocean, where the beach glass formation begins.
- 2). Watch for colored reflections on the water that differ from natural colors, such as browns and creams. Blue, red and yellow reflections may be pieces of beach glass.
- 3). Pick up the pieces of glass and place them into a plastic bag. They can be examined later at home for their size and value.
- 4). Avoid wearing sunglasses when searching for beach glass. The glasses make it more difficult to notice the reflection of the glass on the beach.
- 5). Search for beach glass early in the morning just after the sun has risen. There will be less people combing the beach for pieces, which will potentially make the hunt more profitable.
- 6). Ask other beach combers for successful spots. You can also share areas with them that have yielded a healthy amount of beach glass.
