- 1). String the beads onto the crochet thread. Do not cut the thread loose from the ball. Push the beads down on the thread until you have about 12 to 18 inches of working thread at the end. Wind the strung beads around the ball of thread and unwind as needed.
- 2). Make a loop on the thread, passing the working end over the tail. Insert the hook, yarn over and pull through the loop.
- 3). Slide one bead down against the hook. Pass the hook under the yarn on the far side of the bead and pull through the loop. Repeat four times, keeping the tension even. The bead chain should curve.
- 4). Insert the hook through the thread loop on the left side of the first bead. Push the bead to the right and slide a bead down to the hook. Yarn over on the far side of the bead just as you did in the first round, and pull through the loop. The bead from the first chain should sit upright with the hole up and the bead you just added should lay horizontal.
- 5). Repeat until the rope is the length you want it. Work a row of slip stitch without beads to pull the last row of beads upright. Fasten off.
