- 1). Wash wool in cool water and soap, if using raw wool.
- 2). Take a handful of wool and pull it slightly apart until it is a bit larger than your dolls hairline will be. Form it into a circular shape, which will act as the scalp of your doll's hair creation.
- 3). Make another disc exactly like the first.
- 4). Lay one disc on top of the other with fibers going in different directions.
- 5). Poke the felting needle through the two pieces of wool until they start to mat together.
- 6). Continue jabbing the needle through both wool parts until they have formed a dense mat.
- 7). Attach this "scalp" to the doll's head using very tiny stitches with a needle and upholstery thread, of a color matching the wool.
- 8). Add strips of wool to this scalp by laying them at locations decided by the predetermined finished hair style, one piece at a time.
- 9). Continue to thrust the felting needle through the wool until the desired effect is accomplished.
