- 1). Paint the outside of the shoe box black. Paint the inside of the box gray. Let the box dry.
- 2). Glue a green piece of felt to the inside of the shoe box. Make sure the felt is attached to a long side of the box. This is the bottom of the scene.
- 3). Roll the self-hardening clay into a long rope, approximately 2 inches longer than the box itself. Attach the end of the clay to the top of the scene with a hot-glue gun. Coil the clay around itself in a funnel shape, stretching down to the green felt. Hot-glue the tip of the clay to the bottom of the diorama.
- 4). Pull apart cotton stuffing and spray paint it gray. Attach the puffed gray cotton to the top of the tornado model with spray adhesive to create a gray cloud cover.
- 5). Add trees, animals and houses. Glue mini trees, such as the type found in fish tank supply stores, standing upright and fallen over. Glue small craft houses to the green felt and break up craft sticks to create a pile where a house once stood. Attach farm animals, both standing and fallen.
