How to Add the Media Center to Windows XP Professional

    • 1). Go to the Microsoft website and type in "Media Center" in the search box. Media Center is compatible with Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise Windows.

    • 2). Click "Download and Install Windows Media Player Plug-in." Browse for the right download. You may have to go to the next page to locate the correct "Windows Media Player" for you. Click on the software and select "Download."

    • 3). Click "Go" and wait for the download to install. Click "Open" to open the program or "Run This Program From Its Current Location." Whichever option you choose, be sure to save the program in an appropriate folder that is easy to find.

    • 4). Click "Save" or "Save This Program to Disk" to download the software and install at a later time. Now you have downloaded Media Center software. Click "Start" and "Restart" to reboot your computer. You should always restart your computer after installing software.

    • 5). Click "Start" and "All Programs" and select "Windows Media Center" to start the program. You will have to set up the software. Click "Continue" and choose "Custom" or "Express" to set up the software.
