- 1). Mix your plaster of paris according to package directions. Let it sit for 5 minutes so it sets up to pancake-batter consistency.
- 2). Cut 2 pieces of thin cardboard about a foot and a half long and 2 to 3 inches wide. This will become your mold. You can make any shape you'd like.
- 3). Staple the two pieces together at the top as close to the end as you can.
- 4). Fold back the pieces of cardboard and staple the bottom ends. This will be your mold for your hand print.
- 5). Place your mold onto a piece of aluminum foil and pour your plaster into your your mold.
- 6). Place your child's hand into the plaster for about 20 seconds. If it does not hold the shape of the hand just jiggle it re-smooth the surface. Wash your child's hand immediately after as the plaster can irritate or even burn the skin if left on too long.
- 7). Press the ends of a your string into the top edges of the mold. This will allow you to hang your hand print cast
- 8). Let the the plaster dry overnight. At this point you can paint and decorate your hand print.
