- 1). Take the lid off of a cardboard shoe box and stand the box up onto one side. This will be the bottom of the mountain range diorama.
- 2). Press 1 lb. of air-drying clay into the bottom of the diorama and form the clay into mountain peaks. Make the mountains as tall or as flat as you prefer. Allow the clay to dry for 2 hours.
- 3). Paint the inside of the cardboard shoe box and the mountain range using acrylic paints. Allow the paint to dry for 30 minutes.
- 4). Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun, then plug in the hot glue gun to heat up for 10 minutes.
- 5). Squeeze four to six pea-sized dollops of hot glue onto the base of the mountain range and press a model tree onto each hot glue dollop. Allow the hot glue to cool for 2 minutes before displaying the diorama of a mountain range.
