- 1). Cut a 17-by-7-inch rectangle from the fat quarter. You can cut three rectangles from a standard fat quarter to make three bags.
- 2). Place the rectangle onto a work surface with the right sides of the fabric facing up and the long edges at the top and bottom.
- 3). Separate the two halves of a hook and loop fastener, and set one-half aside. Remove the adhesive backing from the other half and place it at the right short edge of the rectangle, approximately 1/2-inch from the short edge centered between the top and bottom edges.
- 4). Flip the rectangle over so the wrong side faces up. Remove the adhesive backing from the other half of the hook and loop fastener and place it at the left short edge of the rectangle, approximately 1/2-inch from the short edge, centered between the top and bottom edges.
- 5). Fold the right edge of the rectangle over 7 1/4 inches toward the left edge and crease the fold. Fold over the left edge of the rectangle toward the right edge and crease the fabric where the right edge ends. The hook and loop fasteners should meet and fasten securely. Open the flap again.
- 6). Sew a wide zigzag stitch along the left and right edges of the bag to finish a sandwich bag.
