- Hang handmade snowflakes indoors. Form snowflakes with craft sticks and decorate them with paint, glitter, feathers, sequins, cotton and other materials. Foam cones can be transformed into snow-covered trees. Completely cover the cones in white or silver glitter, or spread white paint and glitter on some areas of a cone painted green. Create an edible, glistening tree by covering the cone in green gumdrops attached with toothpicks.
- Sprinkle pinecones with white glitter and display them in a basket or on your tree. Alternatively, use creativity and a variety of craft materials to transform pinecones into characters. Create a penguin by adding an oval of white glitter to a cone spray-painted black. Place googly eyes and an orange triangular beak cut from paper above the white belly. Cut paper for black wings and orange webbed feet. To create other figures, such as Eskimos, skiers or carolers, glue a foam circle on top of a pine cone and decorate accordingly.
- Create outdoor snow sculptures, like castles, animals or Santa, and paint them with food coloring. Photograph the completed works. Also photograph various outdoor scenes of winter. Print out your favorite images, and use paints to artistically recreate them on paper. Sprinkle glitter onto your paintings where there is snow, and frame your artwork.
