Styrofoam Cone & Mint Candy Christmas Trees

    Peppermint Bark

    • Use peppermint bark to create a delicious edible Christmas tree. A few trays full of peppermint bark can be broken into pieces. Color the trays green or red with food coloring. Break the bark into small pieces. Cover a medium polystyrene cone with pre-made white cream cheese frosting. Before it dries, press the edges of the peppermint back into the frosting. Use primarily green-colored bark, but add small pieces of red bark around the tree for decoration. Place a small piece of red bark on top of the tree for the finishing touch.

    Gumdrops

    • Use polystyrene cones and spearmint gumdrops to make a festive Christmas decorations. Separate spearmint and cinnamon gumdrops from a bag and lay them on the counter within reach. Dye white frosting green with food coloring and cover a polystyrene cone with the dyed frosting. Press the spearmint gumdrops into the frosting in rows. Every so often, press the occasional cinnamon gumdrop into the row to represent the lights on the tree. For additional decoration, use the other gumdrops as different colored lights.

    Various Candies

    • You can use a variety of candies for a colorful, edible centerpiece. Cover a large, thin polystyrene cone in white cake frosting dyed green. Before the frosting dries, press in different colorful candies, such as cinnamon jaw breakers or gumdrops. Place the candies in rows by their types. The rows should be repeated in a pattern to the tip of the cone. Place a dab of additional frosting on the tip, and place a final candy on the top to represent the star. For a decorative display, place a wooden dowel rod into the polystyrene cone before screwing the rod into an antique tree stand.

    Peppermints

    • Use another polystyrene cone to make a peppermint candy tree. To hold the candies up, use ready-made frosting on the surface of the cone. Unwrap a bowl full of round, green-striped spearmint candies. Place the edges of these candies in rows around the cone to present a uniform look. Add the occasional colorful gumdrop or jawbreaker to the row to bring color and variety to your tree. Shape a yellow lollipop into a star and place it on top of the tree. You can leave the spearmint candies wrapped to keep the candy fresh over time.
