- 1). Crochet the pansy. Using the color of your choice, chain four and join with a slip stitch to form a ring. For the first round, chain one and then crochet two single crochets in the ring twice. Work two single crochets in the ring and chain five. Repeat twice. Join with slip stitch to the first single crochet. Break off yarn.
- 2). Complete round two of the pansy. With a second color, join with a slip stitch to first chain two space. In this space, chain two, work two half double crochets, chain three and work slip stitch into first chain. Miss the next single crochet and then slip stitch into the next single crochet. Work two half double crochets, slip stitch into first chain and work two half double crochets all in the next chain two space. Miss the next single crochet and then slip stitch into the next single crochet. Work one half double crochet, nine double crochets and one double crochet in the next chain five space for a total of three times. Miss the next single crochet, slip stitch into next single crochet. Join with a slip stitch to the top of chain two and fasten off.
- 3). Crochet the base. With green yarn, chain two. For first round, work eight single crochets in the second chain from hook and join with slip stitch into first single crochet. For second round, chain three, work one double crochet in the same space as slip stitch, work two double crochets in each single crochet around. Join with slip stitch to top of chain three and work 16 double crochet. Work third round as second round but work 32 double crochets at the end.
- 4). Work fourth round of base. Chain one, * work one single crochet in each of next four double crochet. Chain 12. Work one single crochet into second chain from hook and one double crochet in next chain. For a total of three times, work two double crochets into next chain one double crochet in the next chain. Work two double crochets in next chain, one half double crochet in next chain, one single crochet in next chain, one single crochet in each of next four single crochets. Chain eight. Work one single crochet in second chain from hook. One half double crochet in next chain, two double crochet into next chain, one double crochet into next chain, two double crochet into next chain, one half double crochet into next chain . Repeat from * around. Join with slip stitch to first single crochet and fasten off.
- 5). Finish the pansy. Using tapestry needle, sew an optional bead to the center of the pansy. Weave in any ends and then sew the back of the pansy to the base.
