- 1). Measure the finger for which you are creating the ring. While some people always wear a ring on their third finger of either hand, a beaded cluster ring is often larger and is suitable to wear on any finger. Add an additional inch to the measurement to accommodate for the beads and crochet stitches.
- 2). Cut the metallic elastic thread to the appropriate size for the finger and add the extra inch. Stiffen the thread with nail polish to make it easier to thread the beads.
- 3). String 25 to 30 beads onto the thread. You can use all one type of bead, such as pearls or mix and match them in a design you select.
- 4). Crochet a chain of the desired length with the remaining metallic thread. Wrap the yarn over your crochet hook and draw the yarn through to form a new loop. Do not join the circle together with a slip-stitch just yet.
- 5). Bring a bead to the hook and single crochet around it into the chain by slipping thread over the hook so that there are two loops on it. Repeat this until you have five beads clustered together. Then make two single-crochets into each single crochet of the previous row but without the beads so you have 10 single-crochet chains. Repeat with the next cluster of five beads in your pattern so that by the time you are done with the third row, you should have 10 single beads on the thread starting to create the cluster patterns. Repeat until all the beads are used.
- 6). Chain stitch 18 single-crochet stitches with a slip-stitch in the fifth stitch chain on the sixth row to form the ring. Turn and slip-stitch in each chain to fasten it off in a circle. Once you complete your last stitch on a project you will have one loop on your hook. Thread over and draw the remaining thread through the loop and pull tightly. Weave whatever is left through the ring so that it meshes and is not visible. You will have a cluster ring that is tightly crocheted and ready to wear.
