Kids Project for Grandma

    Personal Book

    • For children who can read and write, provide them with a lined and unlined paper, personal photographs, writing implements and decorative supplies. Have each child create a personal book for Grandma. One child can create a story about a day spent at Grandma’s house or write about an event that he experienced. Another child could create a blessings book listing and illustrating all the reasons why he is lucky to have his grandma. Illustration options include drawing, painting or coloring something original or using photographs of shared events.

    Grandchild Collage Card

    • Use a large piece of blank poster board or a display board to create a card for Grandma. If using poster board, fold the sides in one-fourth to create a card with double-door openings like the display board. Cover the front flaps with pretty wrapping paper and write a greeting on the cover. Choose photographs of the children with Grandma or of events they wish to share with her for your interior content. Allow each child to help decorate the card with stickers, drawings, pressed or silk flowers.

    With All My Love Decoupage

    • Decoupage preserves paper and photographs from damage. Decoupage pictures, favorite Grandma wisdom words or shared family sayings on a blank coffee cup, tea glass or decorative box. Write “To Grandma with all my Love” somewhere on your decoupage creation. Fill the coffee cup or tea glass with a small package of Grandma’s favorite coffee, tea blend or chocolate kisses. Fill the decorative box with Grandma’s favorite snack mix, baked goods or other treat. Wrap carefully and deliver with plenty of hugs and kisses.

    Just Like You Taught Me

    • If Grandma has taught the kids a special and mutually enjoyed skill such as cooking, needlework, gardening or scrapbooking, create a special project using this skill for Grandma. Demonstrate successful mastery of the skill by following the procedures she teaches, Have the child send a letter or thank you note with the project, thanking her for her patience in sharing her knowledge and skills.
