- 1). Browse to the Apple website using the link in the "Resources" section of this article and download iTunes 7.6. Two additional links are provided to use in the event that Apple no longer hosts this older version of iTunes. Save the resulting file--iTunesSetup.exe--to the desktop.
- 2). Double-click "iTunesSetup.exe" to launch the installation utility.
- 3). Click "Next." The license agreement for iTunes 7.6 is displayed. Examine the license agreement. If you agree to the terms, click "I accept the terms in the license agreement" then click "Next" again.
- 4). Use the check boxes at the top of the window to indicate whether you would like a program shortcut for iTunes to be created on the desktop, whether iTunes should be your default player for music, and whether iTunes should be updated automatically. If you do not want iTunes to be updated past version 7.6, make sure that the last box is not checked.
- 5). Click the "Install" button when you are ready to proceed. The files required for iTunes to run are copied to the installation folder.
- 6). Place a check in the box labeled "Open iTunes after the installer exits" and click "Finish." A second software license agreement appears.
- 7). Examine the terms of the second software license agreement, then click the "Agree" button to continue. iTunes 7.6 loads.
