Heat Press Instructions

    • 1). Plug the power cord for your heat press into a grounded electrical outlet. Use an outlet with a 7.5 amp circuit for 120 volt heat presses and a 15 amp circuit for 240 volt heat presses.

    • 2). Turn on your heat press by locating and pressing its power button. Lift the lever on the heat press to move its platens into the open position.

    • 3). Rotate the temperature adjustment knob on your heat press to set it to the desired temperature. Set the temperature for your heat press according to the instructions included with your transfer paper. Give your heat press at least 15 minutes to heat to the designated temperature.

    • 4). Adjust the pressure of your heat press depending on the thickness of the garment or item to which you're transferring the design or image. For example, transferring a design or image to a shirt will require more pressure than transferring a design or image to a coffee mug. Turn the pressure adjustment knob on your heat press to adjust the pressure, as desired.

    • 5). Locate the countdown timer button on your heat press. Use the countdown timer button to set the countdown timer to between 1 and 99 seconds. Set the timer for the amount of time indicated in the transfer paper instructions.

    • 6). Center your garment or other printable item on the bottom heat press platen. Situate the transfer paper over your garment or item according to the package directions.

    • 7). Close the top heat press platen over the printable item and transfer paper. Start the countdown timer after closing the heat press, if applicable. Note that closing the heat press automatically starts the countdown timer on some heat press models.

    • 8). Lift the lever to open the heat press when the timer alarm sounds. Remove the transfer paper from your garment or item as directed in the transfer paper instructions. Read the transfer paper instructions carefully, as some transfers will need to be peeled off when the transfer item is still warm, while others require that the transfer item cools first.
