- The winter months are a productive time to work on arts and crafts, particularly for those living in colder climates where a break from snow shoveling is needed. Scrapbooks featuring winter themes can encompass pictures of skiing, snow shoeing, making snowmen, sledding and the holidays. Start capturing these memories in winter scrapbook layouts.
- Do you collect ornaments or holiday-themed figurines each year? No matter what your holiday collections may be, capture them in pictures. Take pictures of your collections in multiple sizes, and then cut them into squares and rectangles. Place a piece of winter-themed paper onto the scrapbook page, and then begin assembling your photographs into a pattern. Embellish the scrapbook layout with additional holiday and winter-themed stickers, die-cuts and areas for text. (See Resources for free templates.)
- Each time you are out and about during the winter months, capture as much as you can on film. Take pictures of snow-covered trees, snow-capped mountains and other beautiful winter scenes. In addition, take pictures of events you attend during the winter, such as birthday and New Year's celebrations. Use templates to cut the pictures into circles, ovals, triangles and other shapes for the scrapbook layout. Decorate the page using snowflakes. Further embellish the scrapbook layout using journaling and speech bubbles. (See Resources for examples.)
- So much excitement surrounds winter school vacations as well as days when school is canceled due to a snowstorm. Capture these winter moments on camera, and then encourage your children to help you with the winter-themed scrapbook layouts. Ask them to write short paragraphs on decorative paper about what is going on in each picture, and then decorate the papers. Use school-themed, winter-themed and vacation-themed scrapbook papers and embellishments.
