Functionality

• The VRQ tool allows an engineer to search for and remove malicious programs that conventional anti-virus software is unable to remove. The tool does not offer continuous protection against virus or spyware threats, and should only be used after an infection has occurred.
  
  

Usage

• The Symantec VRQ tool is intended for use by trained Symantec employees, and not by members of the general public. No general user documentation is available for the tool, and it can not be accessed without a valid case ID from Symantec technical support.

• Trend Micro HijackThis provides a similar level of functionality to the Symantec VRQ tool, and can be downloaded from the Trend Micro website.
