- 1). Draw separate arms and legs on a one-inch-thick sheet of Styrofoam. The arms and legs can be simple elongated ovals instead of highly detailed limbs. Draw an oval torso and a circular head as well.
- 2). Cut the shapes out of the Styrofoam with a craft knife. Pick off the loose balls of foam around the edges.
- 3). Draw clothing and facial features onto the sections of doll you cut. Make extra arms, legs and torsos so your doll has a variety of clothing style choices.
- 4). Insert a one-half-inch-long piece of wire through the neck of the head, sides of the torso at shoulder height and start of the hips. Slide the arms and legs onto the wires on the torso. Slide the head into place over the top of the torso.
- 5). Cut lengths of yarn to make the hair for the doll. Attach the yarn to the head using a hot glue gun. Cut away the excess strings of glue once it dries.
