Removing Dual Boot Screen

    Removing Windows Bootloader Screen

    • 1). Type "Command Prompt" into the search bar on the Start menu.

    • 2). Right-click on the "Command Prompt" program and select "Run as Administrator" if it appears; otherwise, select "Open."

    • 3). Type "bcdedit /enum" in the Command Prompt window and press "Enter."

    • 4). Determine the boot instance you want to remove by reading the onscreen descriptions. The instance you are using--and probably not removing--will have the identifier "current."

    • 5). Type "bcdedit /delete {" in the command prompt.

    • 6). Type the text next to "identifier" the instance you want to delete from the boot menu.

    • 7). Add a "}" and press "Enter."

    • 8). Repeat from Step 5 until you have removed all instances from the boot loader except the one you want to keep.

    • 9). Type "bcdedit /timeout 0" and press "Enter."

    Restoring Windows Bootloader

    • 1). Turn on the computer.

    • 2). Insert the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc.

    • 3). Boot to the Windows installer.

    • 4). Select the language, select the keyboard method and choose the "Repair your computer" option.

    • 5). Choose the Windows installation you want to preserve from the menu.

    • 6). Select "System Recovery Options and "Command Prompt."

    • 7). Type "Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd" and press "Enter" to replace GRUB with the Windows Boot Loader.

Disable Dual Boot Screen to Load to Default Option

    • 1). Type "Command Prompt" in the search bar on the "Start Menu."

    • 2). Right-click on the "Command Prompt" program and select "Run as Administrator" if given the option; otherwise, select "Open."

    • 3). Type "bcdedit /timeout 0" and press "Enter."
