- 1). Insert the DVD in your Windows 7 computer's drive. Reboot the computer. Your computer detects the DVD disk and prompts you to boot to the DVD. Press "Enter" to boot to the Windows installation DVD.
- 2). Select your language and keyboard settings on the first window and click "Next." The next window gives you the option to reinstall the software or enter the Recovery Console section. Click "Repair your computer" on the lower-left corner.
- 3). Click your operating system in the list box and click "Next." The next window is the main Recovery Console section. You have several options to repair your computer. To repair system files, click the option labeled "System Restore."
- 4). Click the system restore date listed in the backup list. Windows lists system recovery dates that represent each system backup located on the computer. Choose a date when your computer was running properly. Typically, this is the most recent backup date.
- 5). Click "OK" to confirm that you want to restore Windows to the previous date. Windows restores your files and prompts you to reboot. Remove the installation DVD and reboot the computer.
