- 1). Clean the surface of a clear light bulb by wiping it with rubbing alcohol. This helps the paint to adhere and removes any dust.
- 2). Place the light bulb on a piece of paper in front of you to avoid getting paint on the table. You may also opt to screw the light bulb into an unplugged, shade-less lamp to provide support during the painting process.
- 3). Use a paint brush to apply any type of high-temperature translucent glass paint, which is available from many craft stores, to the light bulb. Use a larger brush for solid color applications or smaller brushes for detailed color work. Allow adequate drying time based on your specific paint instructions.
