- 1). Click on the "Start" button to open a list of accessible options. Roll the cursor over the "Settings" option. Click the "Control Panel" selection.
- 2). Double click the "Display" icon on the control panel page to open the display properties box. Click the "Appearances" tab in the box.
- 3). Click the drop down marked "Scheme" on the appearances screen. Choose one of the "High Contrast" selections to change the colors of the title bars and backgrounds of the windows you open. "High Contrast #2" changes the slate gray background to solid black with teal title bars and green lettering. Sample windows are displayed in the upper box to show the appearance of selections clicked.
- 4). Click the "Apply" button in the lower right of the appearances box after making a selection. Click the "OK" button to finalize the selection and close the box. The screen will return to the control panel page.
- 5). Check the setting. Click the "Internet Options" icon on the control panel page. Click the "Security" tab to view the change in the background on this screen. This setting will change the appearance of all other windows opened on the computer as well.
