- 1). Place your Windows XP CD into your computer's CD drive.
- 2). Turn on your computer.
- 3). Watch the screen as the computer starts up and press the key that is labeled as being the "Boot Menu" key. This key varies between computer brands and models, but it is usually the Delete key or one of the Function keys.
- 4). Press the "Enter" key and then press the "F8" key, in order, when prompted to do so at the welcome screen.
- 5). Use your arrow keys on your computer keyboard to select the drive onto which you want to install the XP operating system. Press the "Enter" key when you make your selection.
- 6). Use the arrow keys to adjust how much hard disk space to allot to the Windows XP partition and then press the "Enter" key.
- 7). Use your arrow keys to choose what formatting method you want to use and then press the "Enter" key. The installation process starts.
- 8). Type in your 25-character XP product key when prompted to do so and then press the "Enter" key. The installation finishes and you may login to the computer.
