- 1). Measure a 90-inch strand of hemp twine with a measuring tape and cut it with a pair of scissors. Measure and cut a second 30-inch strand of hemp twine.
- 2). Fold both strands in half and bring the two strands together at the fold. Tie a simple overhand knot roughly 1/2 inch from the top of the fold by creating a loop and bring the fold up and through the loop. Pull the knot tightly. Now you will have a looped end.
- 3). Secure the loop to a table with a piece of masking tape. Separate the four stands of hemp by placing the two shorter strands in between the two longer stands.
- 4). Take the right long stand and cross it over the two short center stands to the left. Take the left long strand, cross it under the two short center strands and pull it up through the loop created by the right long strand. Pull the knot tightly.
- 5). Take the left long strand and cross it over the two short strands to the right. Take the right long strand, cross it under the two short strands and pull it up through the loop created by the left long strand. Pull the knot tightly.
- 6). Repeat Steps 4 and 5 10 to 15 times. Add a bead by threading it through the two center strands and pushing up against the braid. Continue to repeat Steps 4 and 5 after adding the bead.
- 7). Add beads at consistent intervals, after 10 or 15 knots, until you have a 6-inch strand or the bracelet comfortably fits around the wrist of the person for whom it is intended.
- 8). Tie an overhand knot at the end of the bracelet with the four strands by creating a loop and pulling the four stands up and through. Pull the knot tightly and trim the excess hemp with scissors.
