- 1). Measure the length and width of the completed Muffintop quilt top with the tape measure. Cut muslin fabric for a quilt backing and quilt batting to the exact size of the quilt top.
- 2). Layer the muslin, batting and quilt top on a flat surface like a large table or the floor. Insert safety pins every 3 inches in each direction to secure the three layers together.
- 3). Machine or hand stitch through all the seam lines separating the patchwork pieces of the Muffintop quilt. Remove the safety pins.
- 4). Cut a 2-inch wide strip of muslin that is as long as the perimeter of the quilt for a binding.
- 5). Attach the binding strip to the top edge of the quilt with straight pins. Sew a straight stitch 1/4-inch from the quilt edge around the entire quilt. Fold the binding 1/2-inch twice and hand stitch it to the back of the finished Muffintop quilt.
