- 1). Draw an outline of the beaded section of the necklace on ultra-suede, felt or other soft foundation fabric. Cut out the foundation; leave a slight boarder around the edge of the fabric.
- 2). Hand-stitch a right angle weave all over the background, and stitch each loop to the foundation piece in several different spots as you go along. Be sure to keep the boarder on the edge of the fabric free from stitches.
- 3). Arrange all your flower beads in place as they are going to be sewn on the necklace. Take a photo of the arrangement to remember where the beads were placed.
- 4). Start with the largest floral bead and begin to sew all the floral beads down to the foundation. Use long tails and knots in the back to secure the flowers in to place.
- 5). Continue sewing on smaller flowers to fill in the open spaces on the foundation until all floral beads are secured.
- 6). Add more small decorative beads and strings of beads in the same manner to fill in any extra open spaces where the foundation layer is seen.
- 7). Stitch two figure-8 loops to the backside of top section of the foundation of the necklace to make a place for the straps to be attached. Leave about 1/3-1/2 of the loop sticking out past the edge of the necklace.
- 8). Cut a piece of interfacing slightly smaller than the foundation of your necklace. Glue the interfacing to the back of the necklace, covering up all stitches.
- 9). Cut another piece of the fabric used for the foundation and glue it to the back of the interfacing.
- 10
Stitch around the entire edge of the necklace. Add a second row of picot stitches to complete the piece. - 11
String the straps for the necklace with beads of your choosing and wire them to the necklace using the 20 gage gold wire. - 12
Add a short length of chain to each strap to make the necklace adjustable. - 13
Affix the S-hook to one end of the chain and attach a small dangling bead to the other end of the chain.
