- 1). Log in to your Vista computer and then click on the round "Start" button in the lower left-hand corner of the desktop.
- 2). Open the "Control Panel" link of the Start Menu, click on "System and Maintenance" and then open the "System" menu.
- 3). Click "Advanced system settings," click "Yes" if a confirmation popup appears and then go into the "Advanced" tab and click on "Settings."
- 4). Click on the new "Advanced" tab that appears, click the "Change" button and wait for the virtual memory management window to appear.
- 5). Change the virtual memory size settings by unchecking "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives," clicking on your hard drive in the selection menu and then typing in what you want for the "Initial size" and "Maximum size" of the paging file.
- 6). Save the settings by clicking "Set" and "OK."
