How to Install Screensavers on a Mac

    • 1). Insert your thumb drive into the USB port of your Mac. If you're using a memory card from your cell phone, slip it into a memory card reader and insert that into the USB port.

    • 2). Double-click on the icon that pops up to open the files of your thumb drive or memory card. Identify the picture you want to use as a screensaver and drag it to the desktop. Close the thumb drive dialogue box and drag it to the trash can. Remove the thumb drive or memory card reader.

    • 3). Select "System Preferences" from your dock at the bottom of your screen. It is the icon with cogged wheels on it. You can also select it from the Apple drop-down menu.

    • 4). Click on "Desktop and Screensavers," then select the "Screensavers" tab. Scroll through the picture selections on the left side of the box until you find your file. If you can't find it, select "Choose Folder," then "Desktop." Double-click on your picture.

    • 5). Click "Test" to make sure the picture looks the way you want it to look. Move the mouse when you're satisfied with the screensaver. Close the System Preferences menu.
