- 1). Start your computer and the insert your original Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. A dialog box will then appear on your screen.
- 2). Click on the "Install Windows XP" option from the "Welcome to Windows XP" page. The "Welcome to Windows Setup" page will then appear.
- 3). Click on the "Upgrade" option in the "Installation Type" box and then click on the "Next" button. The "License Agreement" page will then appear.
- 4). Click on the "I accept this agreement" option and then click on the "Next" button. Enter the 25-character product key in the "Product Key" boxes and then click on the "Next" button again.
- 5). Select the option that best meets your preference in the "Get Updated Setup Files" page and click on the "Next" button. Allow time for the reinstallation process to complete and then click on the "Finish" button. Windows Vista will no longer be on your computer.
