- 1). Take moldy clothes outside and use a scrub brush to brush off mold spots. Don't do this indoors, because it will result in mold spores scattering throughout your house.
- 2). Wash moldy clothes in the washer with laundry detergent.
- 3). Hang clothes on the clothesline to thoroughly air dry out in the sun.
- 4). If mold stains still remain, add 2 tbsp. liquid chlorine bleach to 1 qt. warm water in a small bucket.
- 5). Dip a sponge in the bleach solution, then rub mold stains with the sponge. Let the bleach solution stay on the stains between five and 15 minutes.
- 6). Rinse clothes.
- 7). Add 2 tbsp. vinegar to 1 cup water. Soak the stained area in the weak solution of vinegar to stop the bleaching action.
- 8). Rinse or wash again to wash out the vinegar.
