Removal and Installation Process

• 1). Locate the product manual of your current narrow built-in oven and find the measurements of the length, width and depth in inches, or find the model number and look up the measurements using the Internet. Measure the length, width and depth of your current oven with measuring tape if the product manual or model number are not accessible. Measure the height from the bottom to the top of the unit. Measure the width from edge to edge. Measure from the front of the widest part of the oven to the back of the unit to attain the depth. Write the measurements down on paper. Research on the Internet or go to a home goods store to purchase a built-in replacement unit that has the same measurements as your old unit.
  
  
• 2). Turn off the electrical power and gas (if the oven runs on gas) to prevent power surges or gas leaks and related problems or injuries.
  
  
• 3). Open the oven door all the way so that it rests at a 90 degree angle. Find the metal hinges on the lower left- and right-hand sides of the door that connect the door to the oven frame. Grip the oven door on the left and right sides and move the catches over the hinges attached to the oven. Angle the door upward and lift while pulling in an upward direction to release the hinges. Detach the door from the oven frame.
  
  
• 4). Detach the trim surrounding the oven seal by lifting it up or unclipping it. Unscrew the screws that hold the oven in place on the wall or cabinetry using a screwdriver or screw-gun. Pull the oven frame away from the wall. Disconnect the electrical wires and power cords to fully release the oven from the wall or cabinetry in preparation for installing your new built-in oven.
  
  
• 5). Read and follow the installation instructions for your new narrow built-in oven unit. Connect the wires of the oven into the junction box, according to the instructions. Lift the oven unit up and slide it in to the cut-out space so that it is centered and flush with your cabinetry. Hold the oven in place while another person finds the mounting holes on the oven trim. Drill the screws that came with the oven into the mounting holes along the trim to secure the oven in place within the cabinetry.
  
  
• 6). Hold the oven door at a 30 degree angle. Slide the door hinges into the openings until they catch. Open and close the oven door to ensure that it is fully attached. Turn on the electrical power and gas.
