- 1). Dip a small brush in hot, soapy water. Use the brush to scrub the dishwasher door. Pay particular attention to grooves and hinges as they are a prime spot for debris to accumulate. Use Soft Scrub on any particularly grimy areas where the brush alone is not working.
- 2). Dip a sponge in the soapy water and go over the door again. This will remove the dirt and grime that the brush brought out of the grooves. Wipe away any excess cleaning solution that remains.
- 3). Remove the bottom rack and clean the area below it with the sponge. Pull out any chunks that can potentially stop up the drain. Do this carefully as small pieces of glass may have chipped off of plates or cups without your even knowing.
- 4). Empty the dishwasher completely and place a dishwasher-safe cup of white vinegar on the top rack. Run the dishwasher through a cycle using the hottest water possible.
- 5). Sprinkle a cup of baking soda around the bottom of the dishwasher and run it through a short cycle, again using the hottest water available. This will further clean the dishwasher and possible remove any stains, depending on their severity.
