- 1). Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Click "System Tools," then expand "Storage." Click "Disk Management."
- 2). Right-click the hard drive with Vista installed, then click "Shrink Volume." In the "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB," enter at least 10 megabytes, or "10000." Click "Shrink."
- 3). Download the latest version of Ubuntu to your computer. Use an ISO Burner, such as ImgBurn or Nero Burning ROM, to burn the ISO image to a blank disc. An ISO image is a bundle of files merged into one disc image.
- 4). Reboot your system and insert your Ubuntu CD into your optical drive. Click "Install Ubuntu" when the Ubuntu startup screen appears.
- 5). Select your region, time zone and language options, clicking "Forward" after each. Click "Use the largest continuous free space" from the list of install options.
- 6). Click "Forward." Enter a name and password, then click "Forward" again. Put a check next to any documents or settings you want to bring over to Ubuntu, then click "Forward" again. Ubuntu will install itself to your system.
- 7). Once the Ubuntu installation is complete and your system automatically restarts, use the directional pad and hit "Enter" to select an operating system to boot to.
