- 1). Examine the dried-on varnish. Use your fingernail to try and pick up a corner. If none of it comes up, it is dried firmly to the surface.
- 2). Dip the cotton swab into the varnish remover and carefully dab the spot where the varnish is dried. Wait a few seconds.
- 3). Wipe the spot with the damp cloth. This will dilute the varnish remover. Wipe with the dry cloth. Examine the spot again. Continue this process until it is all removed.
