- 1). Clean the floor daily with a yarn-wick brush. This removes sand and dirt that can scratch the floor. Fill up a bucket with cool rinse water. Fill up a second bucket with 3 gallons water.
- 2). Mix up a solution of 1 cup floor cleaner to the 3 gallons water. Or, follow the manufacturer's directions. Damp mop the terrazzo floor to remove light dirt. Allow the cleaner to set on the floor for several minutes, according to Arcadian Flooring. Then, mop up the solution. Rinse the mop out often.
- 3). Remove scuff marks and stains with terrazzo floor cleaner that's been diluted in warm water. Refer to the manufacturer's directions for specific mixing instructions.
- 4). Clean a heavily soiled floor with an electric scrubbing machine and a strong solution of the cleaner.
- 5). Strip the terrazzo floor every year to maintain it, according to Arcadian Flooring. Use a commercial remover to lift up all the existing wax. Rinse the floor well to remove the dissolved wax and the cleaner.
- 6). Apply a coat of sealer to the terrazzo floor. Follow the manufacturer's directions to achieve the best results. Use a buffing machine to shine the floor after the sealer has completely dried.
