Homemade Green Cleaners Using Lemon Juice

    All-Purpose Cleaning Spray

    • 1). Combine equal parts lemon juice and water into a clean, empty spray bottle.

    • 2). Shake the bottle to thoroughly combine.

    • 3). Spray the mixture onto countertops, sinks, walls, tile and most other hard surfaces. Wipe with a clean rag.

    Toilet Bowl Cleaner

    • 1). Fill an old bowl with 1 cup borax powder. Add ¼ cup lemon juice to the bowl.

    • 2). Stir the ingredients with a spoon to form a paste.

    • 3). Apply the mixture with a rag to the inside of the toilet bowl. Allow it to stand for at least one hour, and scrub with a rag or toilet brush. Flush the toilet to rinse away the mixture.

    Wood Cleaner and Polish

    • 1). Fill a clean, empty spray bottle with ¼ cup olive oil. Add 4 tbsp. distilled white vinegar and 2 tsp. lemon juice.

    • 2). Shake the bottle to thoroughly combine the ingredients. Also shake the bottle well before each use.

    • 3). Spray the mixture onto a clean rag. Use it to wipe down and restore shine to wood furniture and floors. Store any unused portion of this cleaner in the refrigerator.

    All-Purpose Scrubbing Cleaner

    • 1). Combine 1 tsp. borax powder, ½ tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. lemon juice, ¼ cup dish soap and 2 cups hot water into a clean, empty bottle. An old shampoo or conditioner bottle works well for this cleaner.

    • 2). Shake the bottle a few times to thoroughly combine the ingredients.

    • 3). Use this cleaner for most hard surfaces such as countertops, bathtubs, sinks and appliances. Apply the cleaner with a soft rag, and rinse with plain water.

    Window Cleaner

    • 1). Fill a large bucket with 1 gallon water. Add ¼ cup vinegar, 2 tbsp. lemon juice and a squirt of liquid dish soap.

    • 2). Use a spoon to thoroughly combine the ingredients. Transfer the mixture to clean, empty spray bottles.

    • 3). Spray the mixture onto windows and glass. Wipe down the windows with crumpled-up newspaper or a lint-free rag. Store the unused portion of the cleaner in a cool, dry place in labeled bottles.
