- 1). Attach an upholstery brush to the hose of a vacuum. Remove cobwebs and debris from the ceiling with the upholstery brush. Refrain from sweeping the brush across the ceiling, and instead place the attachment directly on the cobwebs and debris to suck them from the ceiling.
- 2). Place a plastic tarp or dropcloth over the floor and furniture to prevent damage. Put on a pair of rubber gloves and safety goggles.
- 3). Pour 1 gallon of cool water and 1 cup of chlorine bleach into a bucket and mix. Carefully pour some of the mixture into a clean spray bottle. Alternatively, dampen a paint roller in the mixture and roll it onto the ceiling.
- 4). Working in small sections, spray the bleach-water mixture onto the ceiling. Blot -- do not rub -- the textured ceiling with a clean sponge. Leave the mixture on stained areas of the ceiling for 10 to 15 minutes before blotting with the sponge.
- 5). Repeat step 4 until you have thoroughly cleaned the ceiling. Let the surface air-dry.
