- 1). Clean the flue of the refrigerator to remove dust and dirt obstructions that may overheat the fridge. The flue sends heat from the refrigerator out of the RV, reducing heat buildup. Access the flue from the refrigerator access door that is located on the outside of the RV. Look at the pilot flame on the fridge burner to see if it is lit or covered in dust, if the refrigerator runs on gas. Not all RV refrigerators do. Remove any dust using compressed air, doing the same up the flue to blow out any dirt.
- 2). Remove the spiral flue baffle according to the manual instructions and clean out dirt using a wire brush and compressed air.
- 3). Fill a bucket with warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent and wipe down all surfaces using a nonabrasive cloth or sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaning tools as this will remove the protective coating from the refrigerator.
- 4). Defrost the freezer regularly to remove excessive ice that may overload the system. Clean out any food or debris using a wet cloth. Defrost according to the owner's manual.
