- 1). Create a back-up version of all the important documents and files on the computer and shut down the system.
- 2). Remove any devices that send power to the system. These devices include the power cable, the battery and the cables of all external components.
- 3). Turn over the computer and locate the hard drive on the left side of the frame adjacent to the left speaker.
- 4). Remove the static electricity from your body by touching an unpainted metal object or wearing an antistatic wrist strap.
- 5). Extract the four screws that secure the hard drive to the computer and pull it out of the bay. The screws are positioned in a perfect square between the hard drive and the memory module compartment (the square compartment with vents on it in the middle of the computer).
- 6). Extract the two screws on the sides of the hard drive bezel (the plastic part on the end of the hard drive) and separate the bezel from the actual device.
