- 1). Press the power button on your computer tower or laptop to start the system. If your computer is already running, click "Start" and click on the right arrow next to "Shut down." Select "Restart."
- 2). Press the "F10," "F1" or "Del" key on your keyboard several times with one second intervals, when the "Compaq" logo appears on your monitor or display screen. Your computer will enter the BIOS configuration menu after a few seconds. Note that depending on your particular model of Compaq computer, this key may be different. Try each key; if one key does not work, restart the computer and try a different key. You'll know the key doesn't work if the operating system loads after the "Compaq" logo appears.
- 3). Scroll over to "Advanced" using the arrow keys on your keyboard. Press "Enter" to open the Advanced BIOS setup menu.
