- 1). Get rid of clutter. Have a large trash bag available to throw away items that are broken or for which you no longer have use. Place items that are laying out of place back where they belong. Have a plastic storage container available to hold items that need a home but can't be thrown away. When you are done cleaning, you can decide where to put these items.
- 2). Dust each room thoroughly using a dust rag and cleaning spray. Getting rid of dust promotes a healthier atmosphere for you and your family.
- 3). Vacuum all rugs and floors to get rid of crumbs and dirt.
- 4). Mop the bathroom floor. Use bleach to decontaminate the toilet, shower and bathtub. Rinse the shower and tub completely when finished.
- 5). Clean all windows and mirrors by spraying them with window cleaning spray and then wiping clear with a paper towel.
- 6). Change your pet's bedding and clean its living area. Unwashed pet supplies can make even a clean house smell foul.
- 7). Make a schedule for when each task you have completed needs to be done again. Based on the size of your home and how many people are living in the space, certain tasks may need to be done three times a week while other tasks can be done only twice a month. Having a specific goal of when each task should be completed again in the future should keep your house from becoming a complete pig sty down the line.
