- 1). Sit on the motorcycle with your feet on the ground. Simulate riding the bike by taking off the kickstand, putting your feet on the ground and raising your arms up to the location of the handlebars. Have a friend measure the distance from your hand to the ground with a tape measure.
- 2). Set the bike back on the kickstand. Loosen the bolts that are securing the handlebars to the risers using the socket wrench. Push the handlebars forward so they will be out of the way.
- 3). Sit back on the motorcycle and take it off the kickstand. Sit upright to simulate riding the bike. Raise your arms to a comfortable position. Have the friend measure from your hands down to the ground.
- 4). Subtract the measurement in step 3 from the measurement in step 1. The result will be the height that is needed for the new handlebar risers.
