- 1). Use the gold-colored wrench to try removing the cleat stud. The wrench has three sections, each of which corresponds to a different type of cleat. Put the proper end onto the cleat, and turn it counterclockwise to loosen and remove the stud.
- 2). Use a pair of pliers to grasp and turn the stud, if the wrench doesn't fit -- which is possible with broken or deformed studs. Grab the stud with the pliers, and twist it counterclockwise to unscrew it.
- 3). Install a new screw with the gold wrench. Put the proper end over the right type of stud, and then screw it in by turning it clockwise in the hole.
