- 1). Form a loop in your fishing line 18 inches from the free end of the line.
- 2). Attach a hook to the line with a Palomar knot. Form the knot by first pulling the loop you formed in the line through the eye of the hook. Adjust the loop so it is 3 inches long.
- 3). Hold the free end of the line beside the main line to form a double line. Tie an over hand knot with the double line and loop. Pull the loop around the bend of the hook, moisten and pull tight. Leave the long free end of the line extending from the knot.
- 4). Attach a round drop shot weight to the free end of the line with another Palomar knot. Adjust the length of the line between the hook and round weight based on fishing conditions and personal preference.
