- 1). Cut 13 nine-inch sections of PVC piping.
- 2). Drill through each piece of piping twice with a bit as wide as the threaded portion of your three-quarter inch screws. Pass clean through the pipe, so that each drilling makes two holes. One set of holes should be one inch from one end of the pipe, the other should be three inches from the same end, directly above the first set vertically.
- 3). Use the drill to expand the pair of holes on one side of each piece of piping so that it is wide enough to pass your screwdriver through. This wider hole will allow you to align the smaller holes with the wood plank, and then slide the screw driver through the wider holes to drive the screw.
- 4). Cut the plank of wood into one 80-inch piece and two eight-inch pieces.
- 5). Screw seven of the pieces of piping to one side of the 80-inch plank, with the piping extending above the wood in the same direction for all seven pieces to create your first set of rod holders. Screw the first holder in 10 inches from one end, and space each holder 10 inches from the next. You will end up with 10 inches between each holder and 10 inches on either of side of each end holder.
- 6). Screw the remaining six pieces of piping to the plank on the opposite side, but still pointing up in the same direction. Screw in the first holder 15 inches from the end and space each holder 10 inches from the next. You will finish with the end holders 15 inches from each end and each holder on one side centered between two holders on the other side of the plank.
- 7). Screw one eight-inch plank to either end of the longer plank to create two balancing feet with the two-inch screws. The balancing feet should be standing in the same vertical manner as the longer plank, with the longer plank joining in the center of the feet, creating a very wide "H" shape.
- 8). Slide one rod into each PVC pipe to store.
