- 1). Turn the unit over and locate the battery cover. Firmly press the upper part of the cover and slide it down. Insert four AAA batteries according to the polarity guides inside the battery compartment. Replace the cover.
- 2). Press the "Power" button to turn the unit on.
- 3). Press and hold the "Setup" button for three to four seconds to enter the setup function. The sensitivity indicator will begin flashing.
- 4). Press the "Setup" key to navigate through the features. The indicator will flash for the current feature. Press the "Enter" button to select and activate a feature; press "Enter" again to deactivate it. Activated features will appear on the display screen. Deactivated features will have an "X" over them. If you don't press any keys, the screen will automatically return to normal operation after five seconds.
- 5). Press and hold the "Setup" button, then cycle to the "Backlight" feature to turn it on or off. The display automatically illuminates for three seconds whenever you press a button. Activating the backlight feature will keep the screen lit all the time, and will reduce the battery life.
- 6). Turn the alarm on through the setup function. The alarm will sound when a group of fish is detected. This feature is convenient, since you don't have to watch the screen for an alert.
- 7). Press the "Setup" and "Enter" key at the same time for six to seven seconds. The screen will display the current units of measure for depth readings. Press one of the keys to toggle between feet and meters. The selected units of measure will flash.
- 1). Feed the sensor plug through the plug holder. Connect the sonar sensor plug to the port on top of the unit. Turn the unit on and listen for a clicking sound. This indicates that you have a proper connection.
- 2). Pull the rubber stopper out of the sonar sensor float. Adjust the float at least 6 to 10 inches away from the sensor. Replace the stopper and press it firmly into the float.
- 3). Make sure the sensor float cable is not tangled or wrapped around anything. Hold the adjusted sonar sensor float and pitch it underhand into the water where you plan to fish. Do not throw the sensor by the cable.
- 4). Use a long pole and guide the sensor to the desired position. Allow the cable to float on top of the water. Pull the cable in to retrieve the sensor and float; wind up the excess cable to prevent any tangling.
