- 1). Determine the exact length of flexible duct needed for the area in which you are installing it. Stretch it without creating pressure, so that the ribs all but disappear. If needed, have a helper with you to hold one end so that you can run the duct from point A to point B, including the 90 degree bend, and mark the length accordingly with either a marker or a small cut.
- 2). Cut through the soft material of the flex duct using a knife or a sharp pair of scissors.
- 3). Fold any insulation present on the duct back after cutting to expose the wire coil frame of the flex duct.
- 4). Snip through the wire ribs of the frame using wire cutters.
