- Borax can be used to kill many different types of insects and weeds. Sprinkle infested or trouble areas with borax to kill any pests. Mix borax and honey to kill ants. Sprinkle borax in the cracks of your driveway and sidewalk. It will kill weeds and prevent more from growing. Alternatively, dissolve borax in warm water and sprinkle it on problem plants.
- To make a liquid spray for getting rid of mold and mildew, mix 1 tsp. of borax in 1 qt. of water. Spray affected areas and allow them to sit. Rinse the area with water. Allow it to dry. Mold can also be removed from surfaces by mixing borax with enough water to make a thick paste. Spread the paste over any affected areas and allow the paste to dry completely. Brush off the powder once it is dry and rinse off any that may still remain.
- Make an all-purpose liquid cleaner with borax by mixing 2 tsp. borax with 2 cups of hot water, thus dissolving the borax. Transfer the solution to a spray bottle and label it. Use it as you would use any all-purpose spray cleaner. To clean a toilet, put a cup of borax into the toilet bowl and let it sit overnight. Wipe the bowl clean the next morning. The borax will have loosened any dirt. To clean a garbage disposal, put in 3 tbsp. borax and let the borax sit for an hour. Run the disposal and water after the hour has passed.
