Many of us have allergies to products in laundry detergents that can cause breathing problems or sensitive skin that reacts with detergent ingredients causing hives or rashes. Sunlight has a new single dose product that will help anyone who has these troubles. And, Sunlight Sensitive Skin is safe to use on baby laundry to prevent allergic reactions.

Sunlight Pacs Sensitive Skin

Sunlight Sensitive Skin Pacs are convenient pre-dosed liquid laundry detergent in a hypoallergenic formula specially designed for people with sensitive skin.

The pacs are little pillows of super concentrated laundry detergent that you toss into the washer. The outer skin of the packs is a polyvinyl film that dissolves completely in any temperature water to release the detergent.

The pacs are added to the washer before adding clothes. One pack is recommended per average load. Two packs can be added if the load is large or heavily soiled. The packs work in both top-loading and front-loading washers - both standard and high-efficiency (HE). If using with a front loader, the pac must be placed directly in the drum - not in the dispenser drawer.

Sunlight Sensitive Skin Pacs are fragrance-free, contains no dyes or drying alcohol or enzymes. The formula is 100 percent phospahte-free and safe for septic tanks.

Sunlight pacs list the following ingredients on the package:
  • Ethoxylated Lauryl Alcohol
  • Glycern
  • Propylene Glycol

    Laundry  Recommendations

I gave Sunlight Sensitive Skin pacs a try on our regular household laundry. I tested the product on both white and colored clothes with some food stains and regular body soil. I used a warm water wash and a cold rinse.

While the clothes came out smelling clean with no excessive perfume, I was not pleased with the cleaning results. Because the formula contains no enzymes that break down specific types of stains (oil, protein, tannins), the level of cleaning was not as effective as I like. Stains were still visible and required rewashing.

The pacs are very easy to use. The only "trick" to using the packs is that your hands must be completely dry when handling them or the outer film will begin to dissolve. You should also keep the outer packaging sealed when not in use - especially if you live in a high humidity area. They dissolve completely in both cold and hot water. The formula is low-sudsing which is a plus for complete rinsing.

The pacs are quite convenient for anyone who has to use a community laundry room or laundromat. They are also an excellent idea for anyone with limited mobility or dexterity to handle jugs and heavy boxes of laundry detergent powder.

Sunlight pacs or any single use laundry detergent should always be kept away from children and pets. They look a bit like candy and can squirt into eyes or mouths if punctured.

I would recommend Sunlight Sensitive Skin Pacs for anyone who is sensitive to fragrances and dyes and has only lightly soiled clothing to launder.
